ACCESS has assisted many families with applying for different government programs, has also in many cases has assisted with transportation and/or translating.
Some Programs ACCESS has assisted with include but are not limited to:
- Social Security
- Medicaid/ Medicare
- Food Stamps
- Temporary Assistance
- Immigration
ACCESS was able to assist 4 low income families with a one time $200 grant to help pay for utilities, medicine through another agency.
Adult Literacy Program
- Currently have 15 women enrolled in our ESL Program
- Women learn to read, write and speak English more efficiently by being taught in both Arabic and English. Imagine learning Japanese without your instructor speaking any English, would that be easy?
- Students gain a better understanding of the American Culture and acquire the confidence needed to be a part of society.
- Students are also taught the fundamentals of government, extremely important when applying to become an American Citizen.
Although currently not funded, ACCESS is a driving force in the Arab American community which encourages our clients and families to get involved politically and actively within the community so our voices can be heard. We have voter registration drives at all of our functions and through that we express how important it is to become politically engaged.
Also, ACCESS acts as a voice for the Arab American Community and has created open dialogue between our community and local politicians, representatives and other non-profits.
Our hope is for ACCESS to flourish into a solid backbone for the Arab American Community residing in the Western New York Region. We encourage everyone to assist us in making that a reality.
Thank you,
ACCESS of WNY, Inc.
